The only meal i never ate

On a warm saturday night during a weekend away in London my party of 4 came accross a rather nice looking chinese restaurant and decided that was the place to eat. We were directed to a compact but perfectly acceptable table for 4. Looking around the place you can see all the tables are packed tightly together so i take it i'm not the only person who feels like they are sat next to someone at another table. This is all fairly ok tho on the large scale of restaurants, as long as the service is polite and the food is good i generally don't mind.

A young waiter comes to take our order and while i don't expect every person i come in contact with to be british, this waiter could barely speak english and couldnt understand what we were saying so we were forced to point to our orders on the menu, which somehow made us feel like rude customers. Off he went and very soon our drink order arrived. We were then approached by an older man who we assume was management. This man told us, not asked i might emphasise, that we were being moved. We were directed to the opposite side of the restaurant and trapsed over with our drinks to a new table. we were quite happy at our previous table near a window, didnt really want to move but we obliged. We watched as a young couple were then seated at our previous table and after about 5 minutes also told to move and a new party of 4 put into that table, so clearly there was some kind of organisation problem here.

The manager then came back and told us we hadn't ordered yet, we corrected him and pointed to the waiter who had taken the order, after a breif word with said waiter the man returned and told us that we had not in fact placed an order and he would take it for us now. This man's english was also poor and again we had to point out our dishes on the menu. A little frustrated by this point we tried to make the best of it and began chatting. About 20 minutes passed and the first meal was brought to the table, the food looked nice, not special, but nice. We urged our friend to tuck into his food and not to wait for ours which we assumed would be along shortly. After at least 5 minutes and several waiters rushing around us serving others and bringing us nothing, we checked on the whereabouts of the rest of our food and we were told that it has started being cooked and before we can respond the person is gone again. I started to feel very offended by the abrupt way in which we were being treated, but never  the less we are hungry so continued to wait. We enquired again after a further 5 minutes when my friend had vertually finished his meal that wasn't even complete so we tell them to cancel the sauce that his meal was supposed to be acompanied by. 2 further meals were promptly brought to us which leaves only me sat with nothing. 1 of the further meals is also incomplete so we enquire about it and recieve a look from the waiter which said we were really putting him out but he goes back to the kitchen. We then watched as he brought several meals out to other customers before coming to me with a meal i didnt order. I told him it was wrong and he leaves without asking what the correct meal should be. I was getting angry by now so i called the manager over to tell him to cancel my meal and the remaining parts of the unfinished meals my friends had now finished and in the final insult i was willing to take he cuts me off and practically shouted at me to shut up and that he would cancel the order and practically ran away before i could respond. he returned extremely quickly with a bill which he dropped on the table while passing, which i find myself in disbelief even writing included an obligatory service charge. we put enough money to cover the food that had been eaten and told him straight there was no way he was going to get a tip from us for the worst service i had ever recieved. So if you're ever staying in bayswater in London, its a lovely area, but don't be fooled byt the pleasant exterior of the kam tong chinese restaurant!!
